As part of Wardeh’s Tuesday Twister, here’s what’s been twisting in my kitchen in the last week:

Black bean burgers

Caponata

Tomato sauce

S’mores cupcakes

Bacon cheddar scones

Dill pickles from home grown cukes
And a great many other things I’ve already forgotten…

Everything looks yummy – but I must say that the jars of dill pickles and tomato sauce were images that really caught my eye. Very pretty.
Wow, everything looks great! Where is the recipe for the beanburger and the cupcakes?
Inspiring, Annette! I really want to make your burgers. Thanks for participating in the Twister!
Hi Applie, the link is here: http://www.sustainableeats.com/2009/08/quick-convenient-and-frugal/. You’d think I just started blogging yesterday, still getting the hang of this cross promoting thing.
I’ll have to do another post for the cupcakes because they were winners, even better two days later and the only ingredients in the marshmallow topping were sugar, water and gelatin so no nastiness other then the sugar. The recipe was from the Martha Stewart cupcake book but I made some modifications and won’t publish the full cake recipe since you could sub any cupcake bottom, especially chocolate ones.
Hi Kitsap FG – that tomato sauce is amazing. This time I used the roma mill which removes more of the inner pulp and simmered it for 4 hours since it was several gallons. The flavor was incredibly intense. I gave my husband a spoon taste and he said “Perfect – just the right amount of sugar and vinegar, tart and sweet.”
I said “What do you mean? It’s just tomatoes, garlic & onions.” There wasn’t even salt in the recipe and the flavor is incredible – it lingers in your mouth for a good hour. This morning I laid some fried eggs on a tablespoonful with a serving of braised chard for breakfast – world class.
OMG that breakfast sounds heavenly. I am a very pedestrian cook in comparison to your talents. Awesome!
Kitsap FG, I’m not buying that for a minute. I’ve seen your relish and your garden. You have a love for food!
Marvelous! I just found you from The Growing Challenge, and am putting you on my blogroll. I have taken the challenge as well, and you and I are on very similar paths. Have you looked at Weck brand canning jars? Ball and Kerr lids have BPA lining, but Weck do not. I am looking at Weck for my canning needs this year, if I wade into canning.
Hi Sinclair, Where did you find them at? I have been concerned about the lining in the lids. I’m hoping they will be coming out with new lids in the next year and then I won’t have to replace all my jars. I tell myself it’s still better then eating something from an entire BPA lined can and that the additional nutrients in the food grown sustainably in real dirt will help us counter toxins. I’ll head over to check out your blog tonight!
Wow…it all looks delicious! I’d love the recipe for the s’mores cupcakes! It’s kind of a joke among family and friends what a s’more fiend I am…but I don’t often indulge anymore.
